I decided to share a couple edits and a scratch sentence for all you DJs out there! The first is an extended transition edit of Yes with drums and begins with the "what" for all you DJs who can scratch into a mix! The drums come in at 140 BPM and the track then transitions to 87 BPM and ends with the same drum intro at 140BPM. I also did a similar edit of TI and Drake's Poppin Bottles which has extended drums and vocal stab at the beginning, again for all you skratchers!!

Ingite Boulder 13 ROCKED!!

Thanks to everyone who made Ignite Boulder 13 happen. We had a blast at the sold-out Boulder Theater last night. Friday In Fort Collins...Grill The Buffs B*Money VS. Vajra

I've been in battle mode all summer so when I got the call from CSU to participate in a Spinn-Off to promote the CSU-CU rivalry I was stoked! I wasn'treally concerned with the whole spinn-off thing and I was sure I would smash whatever DJ they put alongside me, so I was feeling real steezy, that is until I get a call from DJ Vajra telling me its battle time and I better beready Septeber 3 in Fort Collins! Damn son, I'm gonna be the one getting smoked!! Jokes on me! Vajra is currently the Redbull 3 Styles Colorado champion and is getting ready to compete for that national title in October he is also a 4X DMC US Finalist and has DJed all over the world! Thankfully Vajra is one of the good homies so were gonna be rocking a dope "spinn-off" set between the two of us! This should be a super fun event, and last year they had up to 2000 people, so I encourage all my CSU and Fort Collins peeps to come check this out Friday at The Lory Student Center Plaza CSU! 11:30 AM!

Summit Music Hall on Weds with Cruisers Rocked!

Boulder High Yearbook Signing!

This morning IZ and I woke up early to go DJ at Boulder High School for the senior yearbook signing BBQ. Going off little sleep, we were up and at it again at 11AM this morning! The kids were rockin at the BBQ and we took requests for everything from Beethoven's 9th to Bliss and Esso, while keepin the vibes right for the BBQ. Shout out to the 3 requests we got for People Under The Stairs( one of our favorite groups too!) As interesting side note, and neat fact I learned that Boulder High was Colorado's first High School...pretty cool.

DMC BATTLES UPDATE

For those who may not know, in addition to rocking parties and clubs I also love to battle! It was how I started in the DJ game and got me into my first radio, show and club gigs, but for some reason I just cant stop!! This year I competed in the DMCs out here in Colorado and I had a couple skips that spoiled my juggles but none the less I ended up placing third in the regional! The title went to Notch, an OG of the Colorado battle scene who definitely deserved it! The battle was dope and the cut session with Vajra and Teeko was was even better! Shout out to Christie Z, (pictured) who is super awesome and coordinating the DMC battles again. Here are some pics below of the Denver regional and also of DJ Jeff C (AKA Def Jeff AKA Penz) a long time friend of Amateur Ape who placed third in the New Orleans DMC Regional! Here are the results from the regionals that have taken place (The top 2 advance to the US finals in NY on Aug 7.)

R.I.P. Guru Mixtape - The Real Farewell Letter

We lost an icon and legend this week....Guru. Although people have been speculating the role of Solar in this whole mess, the fact is his greatest work was with Premier. Here's a tribute mix to our hero.

Croc's Cancelled Last Night

Last night after beginning in a classy Old-English-Strawberry-Andre-Miller-Lite-way we all went to Trike Night at the Dark Horse in Boulder. It was super fun watching peeps riding around on an adult-sized big wheel drinking a shot and slamming a beer. Everyone was just sloshed and would cruise on the straight aways but cut the corners to short and snag their wheel. HILARIOUS!

B$ and Ginger were a team and showed their skills. We are thinking about bringing a 'trike' to our shows from here on out. WORD.

End of the night freestyle was fresh as well. Mr. Sleeps you rock!

B-Money making friendly with guests allowed for an I.Z. hour or two at the opening. Dj Ear Attent hit it late and again dropped his signature 'Bear Necessities' straight rocking the crowd.

Sunday Crocs: Input and Prep School Stopped By

Big thanks to Spence of Hip-hop Congress, Prep School (of Chicago) which includes ol' skool friends Jimi and Naj, Input the suburban herb-love your ass, b-girl Paige, b-boys Dash (Freak With This) , Cosmo, Even (of GWT) and Fate (of GWT).

Thanks to new peeps Adam (who I met long ago thru Carla at Paramount), Tera (lil miss dance shoes), Meisha, Becky and peeps.

Last night was super nice. The weather was more wet than cold and gave the night that shine. Peeps were already there ready to rock when we arrived even on a Sunday. Much love to Larry and Angel, our favorite bartenders always.

Our b-boy family came out in a major way to make moves. Fate gave me his lyrical version of 'Deliverance' by Bubba Sparxxx....hilarious: 'Grab an 8-ball and fly up I-25.' Prep School stopped in on their last and thankfully less dramatic night on tour; we're trying to get these cats to move to the Mile High.

As elusive as a mountain snow cheetah, we actaully saw Input cold rockin' domestics in a booth. We thank him for making the 3-day journey from the suburbs near DIA....love ya!

On a sonic note, the joint has replaced certain blown speakers but should replace certain amps which come and go halfing or doubling the volume at random. The good thing about this is they're aware and are actually working on it.

Glow-ball-dancer vs b-boy...You Can Only Guess Who Won

Tonight some blonde pony-tale male with a drunk lost a b-boy battle in the most miserable way to Ray-ray. Unfortunately he was more than sore and started throwing insults and chest bumps. Like sharks on a guppy, this crew ain't no joke but somehow after a ten minute negotiation the blonde-pony-tale-male left the scene unscaved and yet a beautiful night of hip-hop and 90s hits was concluded.

We are glad no one actually fought and this was the first time in a long time we hand such ridiculousness...silly alcohol.

NOTE: Blond-pony-tale-male also came to the DJ booth prior to his loss and almost dropped his drink on our equipment while trying to hippie-glow-ball-dance battle us. LOL

Aesop Rock Show Was Sold Out!

Thanks to all you cats who were able to come out to Aesop at the Fox last Thursday. It was a crowd of 650+ and Super Nat didn't show. No worries! Your boys Amateur Ape were able to keep the crowd rocking for almost two hours.
